Tick Bites & Ringworm
Tick bites can be difficult to identify on the hairline and scalp, because they are usually hidden by your hair. A tick bite may sometimes cause your scalp to itch, but there are often no other symptoms. If you have visited a region where ticks are likely to occur, particularly in the summer and autumn months, be sure to check your own scalp and your children’s.
The best way to remove a tick from your scalp is to pull it out with a pair of pointed tweezers. Do not: squeeze or crush the tick’s body; try to remove a tick with your fingernails; try to burn a tick off your skin.
Please note, if you find a tick anywhere on your body, and live or have recently visited a country where Lyme Disease is present, we advise that you make an appointment to see your doctor.
